Spanning 26 hectares (64 acres), this well-preserved urban core features over 250 old houses and more than 50 tourist attractions within its 2 km (1.2 mi) long brick wall. Some 300 families still live inside the walls, specializing in traditional crafts. Take a stroll along the old alleys, do some museum-hopping, and admire an ornate tiled minaret and characteristic entrance towers over a pointed arch.     Very nice attraction by itself but nothing special if you visited any other cities on the silk route, pretty much the same, good condition but mostly rebuilt in the last century.  more »

    If you buy a comprehensive ticket, it will allow you not only to enter the castle, but you can climb up the stairs to a balcony which gives incredible views over the historical site of Khiva. It is...  more »

    Make sure you stay in the old town. It has a romantic feeling at night when it gets quieter. The locals are very nice too.

    Everything is within reach. Great place to explore after dark. But the products/souvenirs are too expensive. Too many local houses are converted to motels/hotels. might want to control this.
