Honor the thousands of Americans who served during the Vietnam War at Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Adjacent to the National Mall in Constitution Gardens, the memorial consists of two giant stone walls, stretching almost 76 m (250 ft) long, engraved with the names of more than 58,000 fallen U.S. soldiers. Despite its simplicity, the awe-inducing monument makes a powerful statement. The Women's Memorial statue, depicting two nurses treating a fallen soldier, represents the importance of women in the Vietnam War. After your visit, make the short walk down to the Lincoln Memorial or past the reflecting pools to the Washington Monument. When we went there were many people paying homage and looking for the names of family members or acquaintances, at the entrance of the monument there are their boxes with a kind of guide in Osiel where you look for the name of the person you are looking for and mark you in which section of the monument is engraved the name of the person they are looking for.View original -

This is probably the most somber place in the Mall. It was very quiet here, out of respect and appreciation for all of the names on the wall. You could see several people looking for the names of loved ones on the wall. Didn't take too many photos here, it didn't seem right. I got a bit emotional here, but I would say this is absolutely the memorial you do not want to miss when you come here. Indescribable.

Words cannot describe what an amazing place this is to visit. I rode across country from Los Angeles to DC to support veterans coming to this wall. It was one of the most moving and emotional moments of my life to see men and women who had served during Vietnam and other wars come together to that one place. The design is very interesting and below ground level. Truly a beautiful tribute to those who served.
