Providing a home for 3,700 of some of the world's rarest animals, San Diego Zoo features pandas, gorillas, antelopes, orangutans, koalas, and much more. Noted for pioneering the concept of cage-free exhibits that recreate natural animal habitats, this zoo covers an area of almost 40 hectares (100 acres). Take guided tours on a bus, or hop on an overhead gondola to see the diverse habitats from the air. See different animals often found side by side in the wild, along with native plant life from places such as African rainforests and Arctic taigas. To view the collection of rare plants, visit the arboretum. Begin your visit at the visitor center, where you can pick up a free map. Okay, well there's the part of the polar bear, which is awesome. The map of the Zoo is not very well done p, a little confused, but there are people around the park that help you locate with great promptness and education.
El lugar esta super bien cuidado, es una actividad que implica caminar bastante, recomiendo primero ver a los pandas ya que es generalmente la fila mas larga, el precio si es algo elevado more »The place is super neat, is an activity that involves walking enough, I recommend first to see the pandas since it is usually the row longer, the price if it is something high
I will not disagree with those who say it's the greatest zoo in the World. You'll see far more Pandas at the zoo in Chengdu, China. More Tasmanian devils at a good wildlife park in Australia. There is a character to zoos in places like Berlin and London. I've been to many zoos and wildlife parks all over the World, and nobody does it better than San Diego. They also do amazing preservation work. Their breeding programs and world-wide preservation programs are unmatched anywhere. It's pricey, but you can see where the money goes. Along with the ability to have a nice drink, then meal, at Albert's, the Zoo has the whole package.
San Diego zoo is one of the well maintained zoo's in the United States. The park has good transportation facilities for people to cover the entire park in one day. Take the bus and go around the zoo to get a good idea of the park. Pandas and polar bears are the main attraction. The new African animals addition is great too. Don't miss the skyfari aerial tram, if you are not afraid of heights you will love it.
The San Diego Zoo is truly the greatest Zoo in the U.S. No view is obstructed from viewing these magnificent animals up close. The wild cat area is one of my favorites. The Jaguar, Panther and other wild cats are right there, so close sometimes it's a little scary. You get a really great feel for how large and magnificent these creatures are. The elephant exhibit is really cool too! I'd recommend catching one of the up-close opportunities where the trainers clean the elephant's feet and talk about them. You can ask questions too! Take the Skyfari too! What a picturesque view of not only the Zoo but all of Balboa Park and downtown San Diego! 5 STARS for KID FRIENDLY! The entire Zoo is stroller friendly. The kid's meals are a great value and offer not only a cute little souvenir cup (with lid), but a re-usable little lunch bag too! The Children's Zoo section is packed with hands-on petting zoo, a playground and all things are at kid eye-level. The gift shops, plethora of animals, exhibits, up-close interaction opportunities and vast knowledge of all the staff on-site makes the Zoo one of my favorite places in San Diego!
One of the best Zoos in the country for a reason, it's an awesome place to visit! Very easy to get in the door and start seeing all the animals. Everything is super clean, as well as the enclosures (which are usually pretty large and elaborate). Plenty of cool information everywhere about what you're looking at, and the staff and volunteers are always there to help. Do: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Bring some water in a hydration pack if you don't want to buy bottles. Get a map when you walk in. Wear sunblock.
Great place for the family. Go early and get a two day pass. I was truly amazed that they allow you to bring in your own food and drink. There are several picnic areas as well. There are actually some pretty good places to eat if you don't want to bring your food. The animals are very well cared for and you can tell that all of the staff enjoy their jobs. Very informative Park good for all ages if you live nearby consider getting an annual pass
