A pillar of the community in lower Manhattan, Trinity Church has played an integral part in New York history from the Revolutionary War to present day. In 1698 Capt. William Kidd gave the runner and tackle from his ship to the builders for hoisting during construction. The church was rebuilt twice before the final reconstruction was completed in 1846. Admire the bronze doors and 23 bells, which reflect the rich patronage the church has received throughout the years. See the burial place of Alexander Hamilton and other famed New Yorkers in the cemetery. Near the burial grounds, you can also visit the tree sculpture commemorating those lost on 9/11. The church is still active with services and a full music program. Trinity Church Reviews
NYで最古の教会だそうです。多くの墓もあります。内部は割と狭かったです。ステンドグラスがとても綺麗でした。 more »It is said that it is the oldest church in New York. There are also many graves. The inside was relatively narrow. The stained glass was very beautiful.
Toujours bizarre au milieu de tous ces buildings de voir un reste du passé. C'est aussi cela qui fait de cette ville un monde à part. more »Always weird in the middle of all these buildings to see a rest of the past. It is also what makes this city a world apart.
A great historic landmark not to miss while on a walking tour of the financial district in New York. We visited here on a cool morning and it wasn't crowded. The architecture of this beautiful building catches our eyes from far away. Grand from outside and grand from inside. It's really decorated and maintained very well. Such a peaceful place to be at amongst the hustle and bustle of the busy city of New York. We were here for about half an hour but someone can spend more time based on how much leisure they have. Would like to visit again and spend some more time there.
The main cathedral was undergoing renovations while we were there, so only the chapel was open. The financial district is a relatively easy walk. It's not as big as midtown or uptown, and I think I liked it best of all.
