Hear the tales of the 12 million immigrants who passed through Ellis Island when it served as the nation's busiest immigration inspection station, from 1892 to 1954. The immigration museum, housed in the station's main building, reveals details about the immigrants who came to the island and the staff who worked there. You can view informative displays, a short film, photos, art, and personal artifacts. Outside the museum, read the wall of honor for a partial list of the immigrants processed here. Before boarding a ferry to the island, be prepared for a thorough security check; sharp objects and large bags are forbidden. Purchase ferry tickets in advance to avoid waiting in long lines. Ellis Island Reviews
自由の女神からの帰りにフェリーが着くので途中下船してみました。ここで大勢がアメリカ国籍を得たことを思うと感慨深い。 more »The ferry arrived on the way back from the Statue of Liberty, so I disembarked on the way. I am deeply moved to think that many people have gained American citizenship here.
Dedique tempo à Ellis Island, que abriga um riquíssimo museu que conta a história de imigrantes que vieram da Europa, Japão, dentre outros países pra tentar a vida nos EUA. Pra quem gosta de história ... more »Take time to Ellis Island, which houses a rich museum that tells the story of immigrants who came from Europe, Japan, among other countries to try life in the U.S. For those who like history it's a "full dish." The boats depart every 20 min and circulate between Manhattan, Liberty Statue and Ellis Island. You can get down on one of them and stay as long as you want, taking a next boat. There is only one company that makes the crossing with landing on the islands (Statue Cruises). She leaves Battery Park. The line to board is big, but it's fast. Be careful not to fall into scams from sellers of other companies that are in the vicinity and are not allowed to land on the islands. Only on the island of the Statue of Liberty is there a snack bar. But it's small and the line is big. Boats also sell fast, savoury snacks and hot dog. If you're in the mood to spend the day and eat something different, you'd better take it.
You could spend all day here. Fantastic museum and a ‘must see’.
I know the history of Ellis Island And saw the Island when I took a boat back from a visit to the statue of liberty. the first thing you see as the boat pulls along side of Ellis Island is a really lovely looking old building
