Relive over 250 years of culture and history at Museum of Lincolnshire Life. Housed in Victorian barracks built in 1857, the museum celebrates the many facets of Lincoln history with various exhibits, including ones on agriculture, industry, and domestic life. Have a look at one of the first army tanks built for World War I or view locally built farm machinery. The museum is free of charge and provides free parking on site. Before you leave, stop by the Ellis Mill, a fully functioning 18th-century windmill located behind the museum. Visited as part of the 1940's weekend and took our two children. They loved hearing about the vehicle and other things. In particular enjoyed the evacuation workshop and the printing press. The staff are knowledgeable and always happy to talk about the exhibts. Highlight was one of my boys being able to sound the air raid siren!
I've been in Lincoln for seven years now, and I always wanted to visit the Museum, today I finally made it and I can honestly say that I regret not going much sooner. This place is absolutely lovely and full of history. Nice and friendly staff, very well informed and always happy to answer your questions. Really enjoyed the demonstration on how the medicine used to be made. My favourite part has to be the old printer, a huge black machine that is still in use today. I want to say a big thank you for the young man that made for us probably the most beautiful souvenir ( photo attached) We will definitely come again.
