Historic Areas of Istanbul, Istanbul

4.8
The four zones collectively known as Historic Areas of Istanbul contain some of the city's greatest sites, earning World Heritage status in 1985. Turkey's cultural capital, Istanbul is often considered the connection between East and West because of its strategic location between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, and between Anatolia and the Balkans. The four areas that make up this World Heritage Site are the Archeological Park, Suleymaniye quarter, Zayrek quarter, and the zone of the ramparts--altogether they contain over 2,000 years of historic sites, including the Galata Bridge, Beyazit Tower, Hagia Sophia, and Blue Mosque, to name a few. • I loved it, it is a city with beautiful monuments. If you are staying in the Sultanahmet area, you can walk everywhere, recommendations: Hagia Sophia, Hippodrome, cistern, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Bosphorus Cruise, Grand Bazaar, Species Bazaar. Walking you get to the Galata bridge, you can walk on it, visit the streets full of shops and restaurants, visit the Galata Tower. What I liked the Mosque of Sulleiman, less known, but impressive. I can say that the city was clean with a modern shuttle and you feel safe, the only bad many cars in town.

  • Although it has beautiful and authentic places, it is among the very painful facts that we have been disappointed in these places where we came hoping to have a pleasant time because of beggars.
