Observe one of the biggest collections of ancient mosaics in the world at Sousse Archaeological Museum. The museum's outstanding exhibits include depictions of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, but the highlight for many tourists is a chance to see the resident artist demonstrating the skill and patience needed to produce exquisite mosaic images. Sousse Archaeological Museum Reviews
We paid 10 dinar entry each to enter the museum but it was worth it. I couldn't believe how wonderful the baptism font was. The mosaics were splendid and well preserved. The fortress itself was worth ... more »
Nad mediną w Sousse góruje Kazba (twierdza) w której znajduje się muzeum archeologiczne. To moim zdaniem jeden z najważniejszych punktów koniecznych do zobaczenia w Sousse. Przepiękne mozaiki, rzeźby ... more »Kazba (fortress), where the Archaeological museum is located, is above the medina in Sousse. It is in my opinion one of the most important points to see in Sousse. Beautiful mosaics, sculptures and perhaps the greatest exhibit of the baptistery. All well-exposed and illuminated, the same possibility of entrance to Kazby, which offers great views of the city. With a little luck you can enter the fortress tower from where the view is breathtaking. An additional advantage is the location close to the train station where the Monastir trains depart from Mahdii. Trains are air-conditioned, clean and almost free. There is also a train connection from the Hammametu side. I recommend travelling by train in Tunisia!!!
100% worth a visit whilst in the area, we had the whole place to ourselves on our visit. Friendly staff, some good exibits & a good location for exploring Sousse Old Town, markets & harbour. We had no issues, people friendly & genuinly glad to see that the British are slowly returning.
Excellent place to visit. Really good roman antiques there. Very well preserved by tunisians. Well done
