The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
Start off your visit on the 25th (Wed): cool off at Big Buoy Water Park. Keep things going the next day: surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour and then kick back and relax at Mindil Beach.

Sydney to Darwin is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Sydney to Darwin, you'll gain 0.5 hours due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Sydney in September, things will get a bit warmer in Darwin: highs are around 38°C and lows about 26°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Jabiru (Kakadu National Park).

Jabiru is a town in the Northern Territory of Australia. Start off your visit on the 28th (Sat): look for all kinds of wild species at Anbangbang Billabong and then delve into the distant past at Ubirr. On the 29th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: explore the striking landscape at Nourlangie Rock, thentake in the dramatic natural features at Nanguluwur Art Site, and then look for all kinds of wild species at Maguk Gorge.

Drive from Darwin to Jabiru (Kakadu National Park) in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Sun) early enough to travel to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

Located right in the center of Australia, the national park boasts perhaps the country's most iconic natural symbol and a sacred place for the region's indigenous people--as well as Kata Tjuta, a collection of 36 red rocks forming an equally distinctive sight.
Bring the kids along to Kata Tjuta / Mount Olga and Uluru. The adventure continues: admire the verdant scenery at Valley of the Winds, take in the pleasant sights at Lungkata Walk, trek along Uluru Hiking Path, and identify plant and animal life at Kuniya Walk.
