Imperial City

Capital of the Inca Empire for three centuries, World Heritage-listed Cusco is now a major tourist destination, drawing nearly 2 million annual tourists with its well-preserved colonial architecture and proximity to Machu Picchu.
Do your shopping at Mercado Central de San Pedro and Xapiri. Popular historic sites such as Sacsayhuaman and Winay Wayna are in your itinerary. Venture out of the city with trips to Pisac (ChocoMuseo Pisac & Pisac Market) and Maras (Salinas de Maras & Moray). There's lots more to do: delve into the distant past at Sacred Valley of the Incas, take a stroll through San Blas, contemplate the long history of Plaza de Armas, and admire the striking features of Centro Historico De Cusco.

If you are flying in from Argentina, the closest major aiport is Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport. Expect a daytime high around 24°C in July, and nighttime lows around 1°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 4th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
