The hilly port city of Nagasaki has become known internationally as one of the two Japanese cities to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the close of World War II.
Kick off your visit on the 20th (Sat): observe the fascinating underwater world at Nagasaki Penguin Aquarium, then steep yourself in history at Glover House and Office, then don't miss a visit to Hypocenter of Atomic Bombing, and finally enjoy breathtaking views from Inasayama Observation Deck.

Traveling by car from Nagasaki to Takachiho-cho takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and taxi; or take a bus. Ibusuki

A coastal place of relaxation, Ibusuki stands as a hot spring resort on the southern tip of the peninsula.
Start off your visit on the 22nd (Mon): take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Kaimondake, then don't miss a visit to JR Southernmost Nishioyama Station, then soak in some Japanese tradition at some of the top local onsens, and finally see the interesting displays at Satsuma Denshokan.

Traveling by car from Takachiho-cho to Ibusuki takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and train; or do a combination of bus and train. Expect somewhat warmer evenings in Ibusuki when traveling from Takachiho-cho in April, with lows around 18°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Mon) so you can ride a ferry to Yakushima-cho.

Yakushima-cho

You can ride a ferry from Ibusuki to Yakushima-cho in 3 hours. While traveling from Ibusuki, expect somewhat warmer days and about the same nights in Yakushima-cho, ranging from highs of 25°C to lows of 17°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel to Fukuoka.

The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
