7 days in Beppu, Yufu & Aso Itinerary

The resort town of Beppu puts the geothermal nature of the region to good use.

Nagoya to Beppu is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also take a train; or drive. Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from Nagoya in December: highs in Beppu hover around 13°C, while lows dip to 6°C. On the 27th (Sun), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Yufu.

Traveling by car from Beppu to Yufu takes an hour. Alternatively, you can take a train. Expect a daytime high around 13°C in December, and nighttime lows around 6°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Mon) to allow time to drive to Aso.

Formed in 2005 after the merger of several smaller towns, Aso still offers a break from the urbane.
