Malta's capital city, Valletta preserves most of its medieval architecture, built in the 16th and 17th centuries by the Knights Hospitaller, once a powerful military order.
Venture out of the city with trips to Mellieha (Popeye Village Malta, Mellieha Beach, &more) and Malta National Aquarium (in Qawra). There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. John's Co-Cathedral, witness the site of a historic battle at Lascaris War Rooms, explore the galleries of Casa Rocca Piccola, and Head underground at Blue Grotto (Il-Hnejja).

To see reviews, where to stay, traveler tips, and more tourist information, go to the Valletta sightseeing planning website.

If you are flying in from Croatia, the closest major aiport is Malta International Airport. In September, daily temperatures in Valletta can reach 33°C, while at night they dip to 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 21st (Mon) to allow time to travel back home.
