3 days in Cusco Itinerary

Capital of the Inca Empire for three centuries, World Heritage-listed Cusco is now a major tourist destination, drawing nearly 2 million annual tourists with its well-preserved colonial architecture and proximity to Machu Picchu.

Get some historical perspective at Sacsayhuaman and San Blas. You'll explore and learn at Museo Inka and Planetarium Cusco. Change things up with a short trip to Salinas de Maras in Maras (about 1h 25 min away). There's much more to do: steep yourself in history at Plaza de Armas, admire the masterpieces at Museo de Arte Precolombino, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cusco Cathedral.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiport is Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport. In July, plan for daily highs up to 69°F, and evening lows to 34°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Thu) to allow time to travel back home.
