Founded by the Spanish in 1521, San Juan is the oldest city under U.S. jurisdiction and one of the oldest in the Americas.
You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Condado Beach and Playa Seven Seas. Escape the urban bustle at Playa Luquillo and Pine Grove Beach. Step out of San Juan to go to Carolina and see Unique Outdoor Experience, which is approximately 40 minutes away. For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Family-friendly places like Balneario Sun Bay and Playa Media Luna will thrill your kids. Relax by the water at Playa La Chiva and Playa Caracas. And it doesn't end there: tour the pleasant surroundings at Vieques National Wildlife Refuge, take in the waterfront at Mosquito Pier, soothe aching muscles at some of the top local wellness centers, and enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Pata Prieta.

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
We've included these beaches for you: Flamenco Beach and Playa Tamarindo. Escape the urban bustle at Culebrita and Playa Carlos Rosario.
