Ishigaki

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.

Mumbai, India to Ishigaki is an approximately 11.5-hour flight. Traveling from Mumbai to Ishigaki, you'll lose 3.5 hours due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Mumbai in December, you will find days in Ishigaki are little chillier (26°C), and nights are about the same (20°C). Iriomote-jima

Motobu-cho

Formed by the gradual merging of several old fishing villages, today the island town of Motobu-cho boasts paradisal beaches of white sand, clear waters, and a rich array of wildlife.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Okinawa Memorial Park Ocean Expo Park and Tropical Dream Center. Explore Motobu-cho's surroundings by going to Uruma (Katsuren Castle Ruins & Kafu Banta) and Onna Station Nakayukui Market (in Onna-son). There's lots more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Emerald Beach, take in the pleasant sights at Bise no Fukugi Tree Road, meet the residents at Okichan Theater, and head off the coast to Minnajima Island.

You can drive from Kunigami-son to Motobu-cho in 1.5 hours. In December in Motobu-cho, expect temperatures between 24°C during the day and 15°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Wed) early enough to travel to Ibusuki.

Ibusuki

A coastal place of relaxation, Ibusuki stands as a hot spring resort on the southern tip of the peninsula.
Start off your visit on the 30th (Thu): get engrossed in the history at Chiran Peace Museum, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Kaimondake, and then don't miss a visit to Cape Nagasakibana. Keep things going the next day: explore the activities along Lake Ikeda, then cruise along JR Southernmost Nishioyama Station, then soak in some Japanese tradition at some of the top local onsens, and finally make a trip to Ibusuki Bridge Muregawa Remains.

Traveling by flight from Motobu-cho to Ibusuki takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of ferry and flight; or ride a ferry. Traveling from Motobu-cho in December, expect Ibusuki to be slightly colder, temps between 14°C and 10°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Fri) to allow enough time to fly to Hakuba-mura.

Skiing enthusiasts traveling in Japan should consider a trip to Hakuba-mura: tucked away in the Northern Alps, this village hosted several competitions during the Nagano 1998 Winter Olympics.
