Step out of the city life by going to Krafla Lava Fields and Hverfjall. Moorudalur Farm and Sigurgeirs Bird Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Reykjahlid: Vesturdalur (in Asbyrgi) and Hafragilsfoss (in Vatnajokull National Park).
