The resort town of Beppu puts the geothermal nature of the region to good use.
On the 10th (Wed), take in the spiritual surroundings of Fukiji Temple, don't miss a visit to Kumano Magaibutsu, then contemplate the long history of Kitadai Bukeyashiki Ato, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Kitsuki Castle Town, and finally contemplate the long history of Ohara Family's House. On your second day here, get outside with Angel Kimono Rental Beppu, explore the activities along Shidakako Lake, then hike along Mt. Tsurumi, then take in the natural beauty of Tsurunoyu, and finally make a trip to Yunohana Goya.

You can fly from Tokyo to Beppu in 4.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or drive. In March, daily temperatures in Beppu can reach 15°C, while at night they dip to 7°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 11th (Thu) so you can catch the train to Hiroshima.
