Doha, Qatar to Tokyo is an approximately 13-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and flight. You'll lose 6 hours traveling from Doha to Tokyo due to the time zone difference. Expect cooler weather when traveling from Doha in May: highs in Tokyo hover around 28°C, while lows dip to 19°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Sun) so you can catch the train to Yokohama.

Once a small fishing town, Yokohama was one of the first ports to welcome foreign trade in the 19th century, after which it grew into Japan's second largest city and a bustling metropolis.
Step off the beaten path and head to Kamogawa Sea World and Yokohama Zoo ''Zoorasia''. Get out of town with these interesting Yokohama side-trips: Hokokuji Temple (Takedera Temple) (in Kamakura) and Enoshima Island (in Fujisawa). Next up on the itinerary: take in the waterfront at Yokohama Intl Passenger Terminal, walk around Yamashita Park, take in panoramic vistas at Sky Garden, and admire the masterpieces at Yokohama Museum of Art.

Yokohama is very close to Tokyo. In May, plan for daily highs up to 27°C, and evening lows to 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel to Kyoto.

Traveling by train from Yokohama to Kyoto takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. Expect a daytime high around 29°C in May, and nighttime lows around 17°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Sat) to allow time to take a train to Nara.
