Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital, effortlessly combines small-town charm with heaps of big city energy.
Popular historic sites such as Reykjavik Open Air Museum and Einar Jonsson Museum (Listasafn Einars Jonssonar) are in your itinerary. Step off the beaten path and head to Grotta Lighthouse and Fridheimar. Venture out of the city with trips to Illugastaoir Farm (in Bifrost), Hraunfossar (in Husafell) and The Settlement Center (in Borgarnes). And it doesn't end there: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Hallgrimskirkja, contemplate the long history of Landnámssýningin/The Settlement Exhibition, look for gifts at Orrifinn, and explore the wealth of natural beauty at Thingvellir National Park.
