One of the world's most ancient cities, Athens remains Europe's undisputed historical and cultural capital.
Let the collections at Acropolis Museum and National Archaeological Museum capture your imagination. Your inner history buff will appreciate Acropolis of Athens and Ancient Agora of Athens. Change things up with a short trip to Temple of Poseidon in Sounio (about 1h 15 min away). There's lots more to do: explore the ancient world of Temple of Hephaestus, pause for some photo ops at Temple of Olympian Zeus, catch a live event at Panathenaic Stadium, and wander the streets of Plaka.

On the 20th (Thu), take an in-depth tour of The Knights Hospitallers, appreciate the extensive heritage of Mdina Old City, then brush up on your military savvy at Malta at War Museum, and finally admire the landmark architecture of St. John's Co-Cathedral. Here are some ideas for day two: see the interesting displays at Malta Aviation Museum, then enjoy the sand and surf at Ghajn Tuffieha Bay, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Mosta Parish.
