Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital, effortlessly combines small-town charm with heaps of big city energy.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Reykjavik: Grindavik (Thermal Spas & Hopsnes Lighthouse) and Thingvellir National Park (in Thingvellir). Spend the 13th (Fri) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's still lots to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Hallgrimskirkja, indulge in some culinary diversions at a local gastronomic tour, enjoy breathtaking views from Perlan, and pause for some photo ops at Sun Voyager.

Aguascalientes, Mexico to Reykjavik is an approximately 20-hour flight. You'll lose 6 hours traveling from Aguascalientes to Reykjavik due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Aguascalientes in May, you will find days in Reykjavik are much colder (11°C), and nights are slightly colder (4°C). Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Sat) early enough to drive to Vik.

Vik

Iceland's southernmost village, Vik, sports some of the country's wildest and most dramatic coastline.
On the 15th (Sun), kick back and relax at Black Sand Beach, take in the dramatic scenery at Skogafoss, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Reyniskirkja Church. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 16th (Mon): stroll through Reynisfjara Beach and then get impressive views of Icelandic Lava Show.

You can drive from Reykjavik to Vik in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. In May in Vik, expect temperatures between 9°C during the day and 5°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 16th (Mon) so you can go by car to Geysir.
