Rose Garden (Rosengarten), Bern

#1 of 8 in Parks in Bern
To see and learn about hundreds of different rose varieties in a tranquil setting, head to Rose Garden (Rosengarten), situated on a hilltop overlooking the capital city's medieval Old Town. A public park since 1913, this site served as a cemetery in the 19th century. Today, the manicured lawns and formal gardens draw both visiting tourists and picnicking locals. In addition to roses, the neat flowerbeds display 30 different types of rhododendrons and 200 kinds of irises. Take a stroll along the footpaths to see the rose varieties named after Ingrid Bergman, Maria Callas, Christopher Columbus, and Cleopatra. Walk here from the Old Town, or take the public bus from the city's main train station. Plan a trip to Bern easily and quickly by telling Inspirock to suggest an itinerary.

  • As park is nice, well maintained and cute, good to relax. However what stands out is the exceptional view of the city. On the slope that connects Rosengarten to barenpark there is a statue of young Albert Einstein, sitting on a bench. Very nice
