Admire the fusion of Neoclassical and Baroque styles at Basilica da Estrela, one of the capital city's most recognizable churches and symbols. Finished in 1790 on the orders of Queen Maria, the church features an intricate facade with statues, carvings, and two tall bell towers. Explore the richly decorated interior, noting the different colors of marble used in the architecture. You'll find the tomb of Queen Maria laid out in the right-hand hallway. Be sure to continue past the tomb to get a glimpse of the extensive nativity scene, consisting of more than 500 individual terra cotta pieces. Make your way to the top of the basilica dome for a view over the capital. Plan to see Basilica da Estrela and other attractions that appeal to you using our Lisbon trip planner .

I've been in the Basilica for a quick visit and didn't get a chance to stay long, but I can assure you that the floor of the entry is beautiful and the energy of the Basilica is wonderful!!!View original -
This magnificent Church, decorated rich located some away from the city center, and because of that you can see it almost without any annoying tourist crowds. Take time to consider the building of angles and aspects, so that only look like this gives you a clear understanding of the idea of the Guide. Don't forget to enter-Strawberry this church is not very well known, there were some decorative masterpieces, you don't want to MissView original -

The marble exterior, with countless artistic details, boasts several images of Saints, a majestic dome and two towers. Internally, marble, also displays some paintings and has two major organs. This is the most beautiful church in Lisbon! You have to visit! After going to the rooftop you can use the Tram 28 in front of the church to see the city inside of the tram!
-
Go to the little office on the right hand side and buy tickets for the "terrace". €3 each. The little old lady will then unlock a door leading to a spiral staircase to the roof. Well worth a trip. Great views of the city.
-
Saw it from the outside, since the old tram's last stop is here. Nice lighting, cute to see.

The church itself was closed when we visited but we were offered access to a spiral staircase up to the roof and terrace around the dome. We were the only people up there and the views of Lisbon were great. The door into the dome reveals a narrow walkway around the inside of the dome. Oh my God was it high!! Don't go if you suffer from vertigo!! Not bad for €4

You have to take a street cart or a Tuk Tuk to arrive to this church. If you decided to visit the statue of Jesus which is on the other side of town crossing the bridge, it is worth it to come to this church. There is a park across the street where you can hang for a bit before you start heading down. From here to the statue of Jesus the Google map says it is only a 30 minutes walk. Guess what, I'm doing it. I will post more about this area once I get there.
