Explore the rocky terrain and rich mining history of Karangahake Gorge Historic Walkway, carved by the boulder-strewn Ohinemuri River. Hike or bike along the old railway line, inspect the remnants and ruins of the gold mining industry, and delve into some of the former railway and mining tunnels. Several old bridges span the foaming water, including a wire suspension bridge. Look for informative signs along the trails, pointing visitors towards places of interest and explaining the history of the area. Two cafes along the gorge provide refreshments and snacks.   • This was an awesome experience it was a beautiful walk but it wasn’t to long. the windows Walk was so amazing. This is great for a family adventure. I would definitely do it again it was heaps of fun.  more »
