Hang out at the beach of Ilot Maitre, a stretch of shoreline with white sand and clear blue water. Rent a beach chair and umbrella from the onsite resort or take your own equipment. Bring your snorkeling gear if you wish to explore the varied marine life just a few steps from the sand. Consider spending the night at one of the resort's bungalows, which sit directly on the turquoise water. Great sized island with enough space to loose the maddening crowds. Staff were very friendly. Nice and close to noumea. Couldn’t believe how many turtles and fish we saw. Our teenagers enjoyed... more »
The resort itself was sadly below average standards. Rude and moody staff and clearly don't want to work there. (except for the friendly young french bloke behind the bar and the maintenance guys). Pool bar was never open. Extortionate price for an average buffet. Remember to bring your own food and alcohol from the mainland as the prices in the resort are a rip-off. Zero entertainment in the evenings. Only thing to do is watch TV in your room (no english speaking movie channels). The only reason I've given it 2 stars is for the beautiful sandy beaches and clear turquoise waters. Snorkelling with lots of turtles was the highlight.
