Amedee Lighthouse, Noumea

#2 of 154 in Things to do in New Caledonia
Must see · Lighthouse · Tourist Spot
The first metal lighthouse constructed in France, Amedee Lighthouse sits inside a World Heritage-listed lagoon. The island features white-sand beaches and teal-blue waters and lures snorkelers and swimmers with its coral reefs, where tropical fish, turtles, and starfish await. When you visit the lighthouse, wear comfortable shoes and climb 247 steps to the top to take in views of the lagoon. Be aware of the island's snakes, and look out for their tracks in the sand.
