Create an itinerary including Monumento al Pipila
Pay homage to a local hero at Monumento al Pipila, a statue honoring a young miner who distinguished himself during the Mexican War of Independence. The statue overlooks the city from one of the best vantage points you can find, so be sure to bring along a camera. The walk up to the monument may be too challenging for families with young kids and the elderly, who can take a taxi as an alternative. Near the monument, you'll find a gift shop and a bar with an equally spectacular view. • Awesome panorama views from here. Easy to get up there either by taxi or funicular or if you are up for it by foot. It's worth it.
  • Take the furnickular up. Great views of Guanajuato and the monument. I'm a bit put off by all the junk for sale around it. I wish there was a good explanation on the history in English. This is a very historic figure for Mexican independence. So, it's a must see in Guanajuato. Worth an hour or so of your time.
