Once reserved as a retreat for the Knights of the Italian langue, Upper Barrakka Gardens today is one of the country's most beautiful public gardens. The park, created in 1755, sits perched at the highest point of the city walls and offers superb views of the Grand Harbor, the old towns of Senglea and Vittoriosa, and the Saluting Battery below. Relish the gardens' striking vistas and discover a number of significant statues, including a gift from Winston Churchill and an artwork created by one of Malta's best-known sculptors, Antonio Sciortino. Relax on one of the many benches, and grab refreshments from the small on-site cafe. Using our custom trip planner, Valletta attractions like Upper Barrakka Gardens can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

This is a relatively small area, more hard surfaces than flower beds. Nice enough view but I wouldn’t go out if my way to visit! more »
Very goo way to spend the afternoon - the terrace has a charming g view across the entire city and harbour. Once the wait is over and the clock strikes 16.00 - you can spend 3 euros and witness the cannons being fired up close and personal. Definitely worth the visit purely for its charm and character
A must visit in Malta! Amazing views of the grand harbour with a tranquil garden which is a great spot to relax and cool down in the city. Can get really busy around 1pm when they fire the cannons and if there is a cruise ship docked (as they use the Barrakka lift to get access to the city from the dock). This is genuinely one of my favourite places, so much so I proposed to my wife there.
