#7 of 20 in Museums in Valletta
Visit the lower ward of the hospital established and run by The Knights Hospitallers, where patients slept three to a bed. Take a guided tour to learn about the hospital, the medical procedures performed there, and how it was organized. The detailed exhibits depict how life was for the sick and wounded. Displays also explain the origins of this order of knights and how the construction of the hospital gave birth to the concept of modern-day nursing and health care. The museum is underground and involves descending steps, which may be difficult for those with mobility problems. • I was inspired by the charity that the knights provided to the sick. This is the place to see what that was about. This also happens to be a conference centre but the exhibit is downstairs and it's interesting to see. I wouldn't say it is top of my list to visit if I had a limited number but I felt really informed and entertained by the exhibit. If you are interested in medical history or the knights, this is a suitable exhibit to visit. It's also located close to other exhibits (we went to St. Elmo after this) so you could do several close together.
  • A very nice place to visit. The entrance is only 5 euro. They let you to take photos.
