Visit Pinang Peranakan Mansion, a cultural center providing a valuable introduction to the Peranakans, a community of wealthy Chinese traders that made this area of the world their home. Set in a restored mansion, the museum's interiors and architecture display the singular style and aesthetics of the community, blending traditionally Chinese aspects with local Malay and, later, colonial British influences. With a wealth of artifacts laid out in authentically arranged rooms, the museum transports you back to the time period with immersive exhibits, information panels, and guided tours. Pinang Peranakan Mansion Reviews
Nice place full of mixed history. Guide gentle and polite. Place seems to be small but many things are shown more »
A very interesting experience. The architecture and interior of the house is very intricate. The tour was very insightful and our friendly tour guide Ricky gave us a lot of detailed background... more »
With no hesitation this deserves a five star rating. Magnificent property, beautifully furnished, you can easily spend a couple of hours here. There is also a hidden Temple at the back, don't miss this. The museum which houses many precious items collected by the current owner is priceless. There is one magnificent garment, a head piece, made from the finest feathers of the Kingfisher, and many other gold and jewelled items. There are free 45 minute tours at 10.00am and 1.00pm and our guide "Stanley" was both informative and very entertaining. The entry ticket is valid all day so you can return later if you so wish. Upstairs floor not accessible for wheelchairs. This is probably the best tourist museum/house in Penang.
Highly recommended, worth paying the RM20 entrance fees and spend your 1.5 hours of a day in this museum. Museum are kept in a very tidy, clean and authentic manner. Tour guide is available according to their time table. You might required to spend 1hr - 2hrs to really enjoy the every corner of the museum. Most important the place is equiped with air conditioning for downstairs and highly ventilated for the most of the corners. Located at the famous tourist spot, and car park might be the only issue if you are driving. Great place, will definitely recommend to others to visit this museum.
