    Besides driving to Mt. Kuju, you can take a public bus from Beppu or Taketa. The schedule is online. The hike takes 4 hours or so, taking time for lunch and appreciating the view. It's very easy to...  more »

    Beautiful views and the trails are well marked. Gets extremely crowded on weekends, but at least most of the trail is wide enough for everyone (so far).
