An auspicious Shinto site, Atsuta Jingu Shrine draws 9 million annual visitors who come to pay respect to its imperial history and marvel at its many relics and treasures. Emperor Keiko, who reigned between 71 and 130 CE, established the shrine to house a legendary sword that was one of three key pieces of Japan's imperial regalia. Today, the buildings house over 4,000 relics and items of cultural and historical significance. One of the three big, important shrines in Japan. Beautiful green oasis in the city. Soak up some spiritual history. Ancient camphor laurel trees. The history boards along one part of the walkway near the museum, and the museum itself, aren’t set up for English speakers but a translate app helps to get the gist.
