Glover Garden shows off an array of Western-style homes that once belonged to the area's foreign residents. The latter half of the 19th century saw the country's age of isolation ended, as trade reopened with Europe and North America. Explore the open-air museum and you'll see the luxurious mansions and residences of railroad tycoons, merchants, and other foreigners who once lived here. Don't miss the home of industrialist Andrew Glover--the building blends Japanese and Western architecture and offers a sweeping view of the city harbor. Glover Garden is an open air museum in Nagasaki that exhibits mansions of several of the city's former foreign residents and related buildings. It is located on the hill where Western merchants settled down after the end of Japan's era of seclusion in the second half of the 19th century. The main attraction of the garden is the Former Glover House, the oldest Western-style wooden building in Japan. Thomas Glover (1838-1911) was a Scottish merchant who moved to Nagasaki after the opening of its port to foreign trade in 1859. He later assisted some of the revolutionaries who would eventually overthrow the Tokugawa Shogunate in the Meiji Restoration.

The garden is beautiful. So wide, so wild and peaceful. It will remind you about a long time long time ago. You can rent old clothes to take a photo. Unfortunately, when I came here, they had day-off 🤣. Anyway, if you want to run away far from city which is noisy, here is good for your soul 😉😉
