Arashiyama, Kyoto

#2 of 7 in Neighborhoods in Kyoto
Must see · Neighborhood · Scenic Walking Area
For centuries a source of respite and escape, Arashiyama offers a glimpse of natural beauty outside of Kyoto. The district has a variety of outdoor activities: visit the Japanese macaques in the monkey park, or take a rowboat out onto the lake. Don't miss the bamboo grove, a gentle uphill trail through densely packed stalks, ending at a historic imperial villa and its surrounding landscaped gardens. • This place is so hype. Nature lovers will love it. The pleasant weather, nice atmosphere, peacefull place for relax. So refreshing. Many shops sell souveniers, restaurants. If you don't like crowded place, you must come early in the morning to explore this area.
  • The best one-day-trip I ever took part in. I was there with my classmates. We could taste also the tofu ice-cream in Arashiyama.
