Nagashima Museum (長島美術館, Nagashima bijutsukan) opened in Kagoshima, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, in 1989, the centenary of the City's official foundation. Located on a hill overlooking Sakurajima and Kagoshima Bay, at an elevation of 110 metres, the Museum's collection of some thousand objects amassed by businessman Nagashima Kōsuke (長島公佑), includes works by Kuroda Seiki, Rodin, and Chagall, as well as Satsuma ware.

  • We visited this museum on our last day in Kagoshima. The most memorable museum was the Chiran Peace museum but this came a close second for different reasons. The museum was established 20 years ago.....  more »

  • A difficult place to find, with no bus service close by. If you like sculpture, it is worth the walk. It is a Saturday and there are only 5 visitors, so also a great place to decompress while viewing some fine art
  • 芸術の秋🎵と言うことて初めて来館しました。良く分からず裏側に回ったのですが、ふと話した職員の方が愛想よく気分良かったです。芸術は分からないのですが、先人のスゴさは感じました。でもシャガールは(これがスゴいのですか⁉️)と言うのが実感でした。凡人の悲しさです。 初めての美術館は有意義なひとときでした(^.^)(-.-)(__)
