Must see · Beach · Outdoor Activity
Clean white sand and the rock-studded sea bed, visible through azure water, make Nishihama Beach the most natural beach on Hateruma Island. An hour away by boat from Ishigaki Island, this 1 km (0.6 mi) stretch of dry white sand and emerald-green water makes the perfect spot for a barefoot walk. You can enjoy the sparkling sea both by snorkeling and swimming. The beach offers showers and vending machines with drinks, but you should bring some food along, as you won't find any restaurants at the beach. You can rent a bike at the port to cycle here, or take a 10-minute walk from Hateruma Port. Put Nishihama Beach on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Hateruma-jima online vacation planner.

  • How can I not mark 5 starts!? This place is that much amazing, it is the best beach I have ever visited in Japan. Cream soda like color of this sea is just extraordinary and breathtaking. You can't be tired of looking at this sea and being at beach. I would love to keep visiting here once in a while in my life. Beach is well equipped with showering place with place to get change your clothes. MUST place to go when you are around.
  • The Nishi Beach is famous in the area and I believe it is once the most beautiful beach in Japan. The sand is creamy and not much polluted and sea water is clear. However most coral reefs die and you really need to walk a very long way to be deep enough for snorkeling.
