Create an itinerary including Chiesa di San Zaccaria
Set foot into a site with a combination of late-Gothic and Renaissance architecture at Chiesa di San Zaccaria, a church dedicated to the prophet Zechariah, father of John the Baptist and Biblical author. As you walk through you will notice the walls covered entirely in artwork and beautifully lit up by the tall floor-to-ceiling Gothic windows, quite uncommon in this architectural style. The main artistic feature is the late work by Giovanni Bellini. For a fee, enter the small chapel with ornate altarpieces, which offers an optional audioguide that comes in four languages. Don't miss the altar under which Zechariah's body is said to lie. While smaller than some other churches in the area, this one stands out with its peaceful atmosphere and lack of crowds. • The most eye catching is the enormous facade of this church, which in a way reveals the history of the 6 decades long construction project 1444 - 1504. The lower section more Gothic, the upper part...

  • Simply the Best Church probably in all of Venice. Smaller but amazing interior. It'll make you wonder why it's not more famous. Just a couple minutes from St Mark's.
  • Some nice 14 century art work. The crypt was neat. Be aware that it is very small and takes only a minute to view.
