Castle · Tourist Spot
Bordered on three sides by Lake Garda, Castello Scaligero originally served as a port defense for Verona's medieval lords. Visit the 13th-century castle that stands guard over the town of Sirmione and its peninsula to see rooms filled with artifacts. Admire the crenellated walls and impressive stone towers, as well as the moat and a drawbridge. You can climb to the top for views of the town, lake, and countryside. For a different perspective, take a boat tour on the lake; many include the castle on their itineraries. • Nice place with alleys and beautiful architecture. Ice cream stands with huge amount of ice cream per scoop. Good food, good to wander off the main path on side roads to see the lake. Crowded in the season.
  • It's beautiful, but that's closed this Sunday... fortunately, we can rely on some drone shots to appreciate the magnificence of these old walls.
