Leaning Tower of Pisa is known worldwide for its unintended tilt to one side. For a rewarding view, climb to the top. Designed to stand upright but built with a faulty foundation on unstable soil, this freestanding bell tower began to lean long before construction was finished. The tilt gradually increased until the structure was stabilized. The leaning was partially corrected by massive restoration efforts in the 20th century. Tilting precariously for centuries, the top of the tower has been displaced about 4 m (13 ft) from where it would be if the structure were perfectly vertical. Climbing the tower requires a reservation-based ticket, best purchased well in advance to avoid a wait. You can buy a same-day ticket that allows you to enter at a specific time, usually one to two hours after the purchase time. Leaning Tower of Pisa reviews
We drove 2 hours to get there with car from our accommodation, and left again after 45min. The Tower and church is beautiful, but the trip was not worth it. Rather buy a postcard. Money better spent..... more »
AMAZING! Came to Pisa for my Birthday with my boyfriend! Beautiful city! It took us ages to try and get a “trending” pic of us holding the tower up! 🤣😅 more »
The leaning tower of Pisa has become a famous icon of Italy. We visited it in 2014 on our trip to Europe. As is the case with many monumental places in Italy, we had to park our bus far from the place. We took a second bus till the entrance of the leaning tower. There are lots of stalls outside selling souvenirs and leather items. From the entrance you can see the leaning tower and other structures enclosed by a high wall from all the sides. There are other structures around the leaning tower which has also stunning Italian architecture. I think all the structures including the leaning tower are made of marble, which can be found in plenty in Italy. The campus of leaning tower is very large to fit hundreds of people. It can be very hot on a sunny and dry day in Italy. But in the shades of the marble structures you really can feel cooler. It was great to see this monument once included in the seven wonders of the world. 👌🏼👍🏻
Amazing structure with fantastic landscaping. Maintained like brand new structure, as you will not find any damage or any cracks in anywhere! Best monument to take photos and ideal time to take it between 4 - 6 pm. Easily you can spend two to three hours in this place. Outside lots of small souvenir shops are available. We reached this place from Florence by train and from station to here by bus, which is very convenient.
