  • Small and very ancient hill church located in a dominant position... Around it, the hilly landscape opens to a loss of eye! Really breathtaking. The name of the locality-Monteripaldi-Pare is of Lombard origin and the first news dating back to 1138, indicate a "hospital" dedicated to the Archangel Michael, next to which was built a female monastery. On a first Romanesque church a larger one was grafted, which had in 1295 the patronage of the Bardi and became parish. During the siege of 1529-30 was occupied by Baccio Valori, General commissioner of Pope Clement VII; In 1548 there was Rector John of the House, author of the Etiquette. It underwent considerable modifications in ' 700 and in 1871 it was built-on project of the engineer Adolfo Mariani-The beautiful bell tower in neo-Gothic style. In 1962, extensive restoration works were carried out that brought the church back to its ancient fourteenth-century lines. [CF: Information Plate] Beyond its architectural peculiarities, the church stands out-I repeat-for its happy panoramic location: It is worth a visit and a quiet walk to the surrounding narrow streets that are lost in the fields. There you arrive, from Piazzale Michelangelo going up to Pian Dei Giullari and then following the specific indications for the "Church of San Michele a Monteripaldi".
