St Stephens Green, Dublin

4.7
#1 of 677 in Parks in Ireland
Made famous by writer James Joyce, St Stephens Green has been Dublin's favorite picnic spot for over a century. Opened in 1880, the park is adjacent to one of the city's major shopping streets, drawing equal numbers of nature lovers and shoppers in need of a place to rest. The largest of Dublin's Georgian gardens, this 9 hectare (22 acre) urban park once provided a marshy setting for public whippings and executions. Today, the elegantly landscaped garden features Georgian buildings and statues of some of Ireland's most celebrated figures, including Arthur Guinness, Robert Emmet, and W.B. Yeats. Located in the heart of Dublin, the park is accessible by tram from almost anywhere in the city. Find out how to plan Dublin trip without stress by asking Inspirock to help create an itinerary.

  • It's a spacious green park with a pond and lots of birds and swans. It's a nice place to sit down but kind of boring.  more »

  • What a beautiful place! Wish we had some more time to spend in this park. It is so beautiful and rich in history. We had about 45min and it was definitely not enough time to walk through the entire park and ready all the statues and history boards. I will definitely recommend this to any tourist and also to make sure to keep a few hours open for this one. This was def part of my top 5 experiences for my Dublin trip.
  • The park in Dublin you must visit. Kids love it. Free day out at its best. Make sure u have food for birds, ducks etc. Free big playground. Enough space to kick a ball or have picnic on a warm dry day. Lovely for a walk or just sit down and observe would around you. Live music on weekend at times. Just a great free time in city
