Videy Island is home to Imagine Peace Tower, designed by Yoko Ono and dedicated to her late husband, John Lennon. The island is also known for the excavated ruins of a tenth-century village and its hiking and biking trails with rewarding views of the harbor. See the original interior fittings of one of the country's oldest churches and a historical display in the basement of the first Icelandic house built of stone. Facilities include a restaurant, a cabin with glass walls that is a popular resting place for hikers, small huts with public bathrooms, and a horse rental. Off the coast of Reykjavík is island of Videy. A ferry (free with Reykjavík City Card) allows you to sail here a number of times a day from a few locations. You can walk in nature. There is peace, although the city crowds are not far away. On the island there is also a beacon dedicated to John Lennon. The internal man can visit Videy House. We enjoyed this trip very much.View original

Wow what a very beautiful public park and nature area, this location is great for seeing Iceland's natural beauty and it is very dark at night and a great place to get pictures of the northern lights when they come through, I do wish somebody would sell hot cocoa out of a gut truck when all the northern lights buses are out here in the middle of the night

Beautiful. Even the cafe is picturesque, and my favorite latte in Iceland.
