Interesting to those who want to know how geothermal energy is put into good use in Iceland. Renewable power sources make up ~70% of the total primary energy consumption in Iceland, much higher than anywhere else in the world. It is actually a real power plant, not just an exhibition. Kids were thrilled to turn all possible cranks in the exhibition part obviously.
Interesting and perhaps the only geo thermal power plant in the area open to public. You need to b purchase an entrance ticket that normally comes with a tour. The tours start on the hour and we caught it a few minutes late. The tour guide provides basic overview of the location and operations. The tour is about 20 minutes long and ends with two short videos after which you can roam around specified areas. There is a basic gift shop at the lobby with the usual Iceland tourist kitsch and a cafe.
