Must see · Waterfall · Nature / Park
Also known as "The Fall of the Gods," Goðafoss Waterfall represents a magnificent horseshoe-shaped waterfall and a favorite of many tourists. The waterfall represents the point in time where the Heathens of Iceland made the choice to convert to Christianity and allegedly threw all their idols over the falls. Spanning a width of 30 m (98 ft) and reaching 12 m (39 ft) high, this natural masterpiece is worth spending a few minutes on. Check out the gift shop where traditional Icelandic wool items are reasonably priced. • This waterfall stood out for me among many I saw in Iceland. It was big and powerful, but main thing for me were colours and contrast between them. Turquoise water on black rock. Almost passed it but....  more »

  • Really nice waterfall, worth a visit! You can see it from two different points which is also quite nice.
  • This parking lot is on the east side of the falls. There’s a gas station and restaurant gift shop with my souvenirs. In my opinion, decide also has the nicer view of the falls. You can easily walk across a short bridge and in 10 minutes be on the other side. There is ample parking on both sides. If you have 30-45 minutes you should take the time to walk along both sides of the falls. Quite beautiful! One of the nicest waterfalls on the north side of the island!
