St. Mary s Catholic Church, Stanley

#2 of 6 in Historic Sites in Falkland Islands
Church · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Located near the center of Stanley, St. Mary s Catholic Church remains the only Catholic place of worship on the Falkland Islands. Built in 1899, the structure represents a classic example of Victorian kit building. The modest walls enclose a wooden interior where light pierces stained glass to create a peaceful atmosphere. Take a look at the west wall, featuring a "pictorial history" of the Church in this part of the world. You can also climb to the second floor for a view of the altar and pews below. • A nice little wooden church but nothing special. It was not anywhere near as nice as the Anglican Cathedral.  more »
  • A quaint English catholic church as you would expect to see in most villages in the UK. The only exception is this church is made of wood.  more »
