Founded by the Spanish in the 16th century, this historical neighborhood long served as the hub of commerce and a resting point for marauders transporting New World treasures back to Europe. The narrow streets of the central district contain numerous examples of Baroque and Neoclassical architecture, as well as a charming ensemble of private homes complete with neatly decorated balconies and lush internal gardens. The starting point of many tours, this area contains Havana's main square and a 16th-century fortress guarding the entrance into the city's picturesque harbor.     Even in corona time, and altough many places are closed, old Havana is full with music and lovely warm dancing people. Good bars snd resturants. Highely recomended  more »
