The income for over 60s is free, on one side of information there are comfortable and large lockers to store belongings. The excitement of discovering this great treasure begins by taking the elevator to the second floor, a guided or individual tour, in both ways the place has all the information in infoavisos, which give the knowledge of each piece, it is amazing to tour each room, The more , the one to show is the "Offering" a place where the circular settings close and inside in the dark the reflectors are gradually ignited as entering the treasure cave, and the retina settles in low light and gradually discovers the 3000 pieces that make up this enclosure, tells the story of the guatavita lagoon, a story that is a myth and in which the chieftains made their offerings to the gods, the mind travels in time and the viewer immerses himself in a fantastic journey with an end where the Spaniards exploited one of the sides of the lagoon emptied it and took the treasures that were in the bottom, fortunately the water sprouted again and today it has water, not as much as initially but the place can be visited two hours from Bogota. In short, it is a great treasure that exists in the center of Bogotá and you have to go and discover it.
Extremely impressive museum, loved the Shaman ritual. Beautiful artifacts and very well explained. Really worth a visit. more »
This museum is fascinating look at the uses of gold and other metals in Colombia and South America. Trace the history and see beautiful masks, nose rings and other artifacts from the indigenous peoples. The museum cover 4-5 floors and is very well laid out. There is a special sensory exhibit near the end of the self paced tour. It is a must see if you are in Bogota.
I was originally hesitant on going to this place but after doing the free walking tour and the reviews about how good it is I decided to give it a chance. I have to say it is definitely worth the money considering it's actually very cheap to get into this museum. The place is well organized and is in somewhat of a chronological order but it's definitely in order as to what parts of Colombia the gold came from and the people that made it.
