Originally built under the Ming dynasty to protect Beijing against invasion and attack, The Great Wall at Badaling was the first part of the Great Wall of China to open for tourists. Visitors can walk a 3.7 km (2.3 mi) stretch that is accessible by both cable car and stairs. Notice the width of the wall here--at 6 m (20 ft) across, it would have accommodated five horses or ten soldiers to march side by side. Watch out for steep and uneven steps, and grab the handrail for stability. The Great Wall at Badaling Reviews
Go early. Bring a spare T-shirt and be careful to watch the steps. Most of all enjoy the experience as it is something out of this world. One to strike off the bucket list! more »

If you want to visit the wall never go to Badaling. Sometimes it was even impossible to pass because there were a lot of people and besides all this i was able to. And when you go to the wall be sure to take water and food. Locals though sell food it is just terrible and not worth the money for which they sell it.
I was there when December 8th. Cable car was useful. Very modern and big. Though it was cold and strong windy I had a great time. Because it is great wall that built 2500 years ago. Hope you will experience too.😁❤💪
Bucket list stuff right here people. This is the closest portion of the Great Wall to Beijing. And so, loading up on buses on the north side of the city and able to see/wall on the wall for nearly as long as you'd like. Of course, somewhat ruined by all the people, souvenirs and winter weather make it hard to walk if iced. Truly a wonder of the world.
