Paul Tal, Santo Antao

Hike through the pristine mountainous landscape of Paul Tal, carved out by the Ribeira do Paul. This 8 km (5 mi) long valley starts at the picturesque village of Pombas and has abundant mango, passion fruit, bananas, and sugarcane fields, making it one of the most important agricultural areas on the islands and the greenest valley on Cape Verde. Follow an easy trail along terraced slopes and ridges ascending towards a crater, and then go down again through the undulating terrain. Along the way, many vantage points provide perfect spots to rest and take in the jagged peaks and river below. You can see the entire valley from the highest point on the trail.
